Privacy Policy
Overview
Bar None requires Sign in with Apple to use the app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Information We Collect
Account information
Bar None requires Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, we receive:
- A unique Apple user identifier (used to create and authenticate your account)
- Your email address, if you choose to share it with us through Apple’s Hide My Email or your Apple ID email
We do not receive your Apple ID password.
App data you provide
When you use Bar None, we store on our servers:
- Bar inventory — which ingredients you have added, optional brand notes, and when items were added
- Saved recipes — which recipes you favorite
- Purchase records — App Store transaction identifiers and product IDs needed to verify unlock status and shot packs
AI features (Bar None Unlocked)
If you use paid AI features:
- AI Bartender — your message, recent conversation context from that session, and a summary of your bar inventory are sent to our servers to generate a reply. Conversation history is stored on your device only, not in our database.
- Shelf scan — a photo you take is sent to our servers for analysis. We use it to identify bottles and suggest catalog matches. We do not store your photos after processing.
Information we do not collect
- We do not require a separate account or password beyond Sign in with Apple
- We do not collect precise location
- We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13
Automatically collected information
Our servers may log standard technical data (such as IP address, request time, and error logs) for security and reliability. This is not used to profile you or track you across other apps.
How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain the app (bar inventory, recipe matching, favorites)
- Authenticate your account
- Verify in-app purchases and manage unlock status and shot balance
- Power AI Bartender and shelf scan features
- Respond to support requests
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and technical issues
Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate the app:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; in-app purchases | Account token; purchase receipts |
| OpenAI | AI Bartender replies; shelf scan image analysis | Your prompts, bar inventory context, conversation context for the request, and shelf photos |
| Heroku (Salesforce) | Application hosting | Data we store as described above |
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. OpenAI processes AI requests on our behalf; we do not authorize OpenAI to use your content to train models for unrelated purposes beyond what their API terms allow.
Data Retention
- Account and bar data — kept while your account exists
- AI Bartender conversations — stored on your device; you can delete them in the app
- Shelf scan photos — processed in memory and not retained on our servers
- Server logs — retained for a limited period for security and debugging
Your Choices
- Sign in with Apple — required to use Bar None; we use your account to sync your bar inventory, favorites, and purchases across devices
- Apple email — you control whether Apple shares your email via Sign in with Apple settings
- Delete conversations — available in the AI Bartender UI on your device
- Delete account — use Delete Account in Settings, or contact us at mitchfischer6@gmail.com
Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and authenticated API access. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Children’s Privacy
Bar None is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.
International Users
If you use Bar None from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States where our servers are located.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version at this URL and update the effective date above.
